Vision

The River Road Exchange is envisioned as a thoughtfully planned, multi-use destination serving the greater Sacramento region. Rooted in the rich agricultural history and distinctive architecture of the Sacramento Delta, the property brings together complementary uses that celebrate craft, creativity, and community. Envisioned offerings include wineries and breweries, farm-driven food concepts, artisan distilleries, art, music and film production, corporate gatherings and weddings, boat works and marina development, along with select, appropriate industrial uses, all cohesively integrated within the River Road Exchange.

History

For more than a century, the River Road Exchange operated as a vital fruit shipping and processing facility serving the Sacramento region. Connected to the greater metropolis by the Sacramento River, steamer ships once transported agricultural goods directly to the onsite boathouse, where they were transferred seamlessly onto rail cars for distribution. Over time, the property evolved to include purpose-built cold storage warehouses, capable of maintaining temperatures between 0 and 32 degrees, allowing agricultural products to be stored safely for months at a time.
